2006: Newham, Forest Gate PFI

Competition winning Private Finance Initiative bid including comprehensive estate regeneration proposals. 17 infill sites for new housing, an iconic design for a community centre, and a range of public realm improvements including security, storage and landscaping. We have devised a simple and replicable architectural language for the infill housing. Typically, these are small blocks of flats on former garage sites. The ground floor is a brick plinth, the middle floors are rendered, and the top floors are clad in timber set back beneath the sheltering eaves of a sedum turf roof. Most flats have south or west facing balconies.
