1993: London, British Museum, Hellenistic Gallery & Mausoleum Room

The task involved the complete re-construction of a neo-classical gallery to provide contemporary standards of display and environmental performance. New air conditioning plant was concealed in a rooftop plantroom and behind false walls; a new rooflight incorporated ultra-violet filtration; finishes included fibrous plaster, stone and bronze. The gallery displays artefacts from one of the seven wonders of the Ancient World – the Temple of Artemis and Ephesus. The project was opened to the public by HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

We also prepared a feasibility study for the adjoining Mausoleum Gallery incorporating sculptures from the Mausoleum of Halikarnassus.
