2007: Twickenham, Orleans Park Secondary School

The preparation of a masterplan strategy for the phased regeneration and upgrade of a 1970s seven form entry secondary school with 1,020 pupils from ages 11 to 16 to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ Environmental performance standards. We addressed architectural, logistical and operational issues to offer a solution which will keep the school operational while undertaking radical remodeling. We designed a sheltering wall of buildings around a landscaped courtyard. A lively circulation street around the whole school connects Department Base buildings which have separate entrances, display areas and offices.

We enjoyed a very constructive dialogue with the Local Education Authority, the teaching staff and the Board of Governors. Our client Richard Rollinson described our report as an “excellent piece of work, superbly presented”.
